Currently Dreaming, a futuristic-steampunk style fish creation, borrows from the flowing design of Betta and Koi fish.  This sculpture was meant to depict how the absence of completeness, still can be a beautiful thing in the eyes of others.  We often look at our own flaws or shortcomings, as something we need to repair somehow in order to be appreciated by others. We may see it like this rift through this sculpture, as an obvious indication of our imperfection, something that may take away some of our self-esteem, even only on subconcious level.  However, those flaws, or holes,  are what make us unique, special, and and individual. Those people that truly appreciate us, see the whole person, everything that makes us who we are, and see the beauty of us.

This fish is obviously missing the very center of it's form, but it  also is a flowing complex combination of materials and objects from different eras and purposes.  They all come together as one beautiful form, just as we do, a collection of experiences, memories, and qualities assembled over our lifetime, that create a beautiful and unique person of great value.

The pieces that were used in creating this work were a vintage motorcycle gas tank, 1940's brass barrelback boat exhaust port pieces, a vintage metal mirror frame made into a base, antique iron furniture leg pieces, a stator assembly from a salvaged car alternator, stainless steel pieces from industrial icemakers, aluminum pieces from an old dock ramp from a Coca-Cola factory, various salvaged pieces of hardware, brass and copper water pipe fittings, and more.
